All standard parts* manufactured by Johanson Dielectrics, Inc. after January 1, 2006 are fully compliant to the European Union Directive 2002/95/EC and the new EU Directive 2011/65/EC Restriction of Hazardous Substances commonly referred to as RoHS 2 as of January 2, 2013.
All parts (articles) manufactured by Johanson Dielectrics meet the requirements for REACH and do not contain any of the SVHC chemicals listed above the levels mandated by the ECHA.
All standard terminations (JDI termination code "V") of our SMT components consist of 100% Tin plating in a matte finish over Nickel. Components with these terminations are capable of a 260°C maximum reflow temperature for a duration of 5 seconds and compatible with most common lead-free solder processes. Tin Whisker test results are published in the Johanson Technical Note: Tin Whisker Testing
In response to specific industry and customer requests, Johanson Dielectrics produces a limited amount of product featuring Tin-Lead (Sn-Pb) Terminations (JDI termination code "T".) This product is non-RoHS compliant due to the Pb constituent in the termination as required in certain specialty applications e.g. Military & Space.
Legacy RoHS Compliant P/N Suffix
In 2005 a Johanson part number suffix of "-****-RC" was implemented to assist customers in identifying compliant and non-compliant inventory during their transition to RoHS compliancy. The "RC" suffix is no longer necessary to ensure compliance and should not be utilized for new designs. JDI will continue to support these legacy part numbers for the benefit of customers with these part numbers on current AVLs / BOM’s.
Conflict Minerals Reporting
In response to the worldwide determination to limit funding of human rights violations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Johanson Dielectrics (JDI) ensures that our products do not contain the “conflict minerals” of tungsten, tantalum, tin, and gold supplied by the DRC and their neighboring countries. JDI has verified through our suppliers that their smelters and refiners produce Conflict Free Minerals. JDI participates in the generation of lists of Conflict Free Mineral Smelters and Refineries started by the Security and Exchange Commission.
