Janitor/Facilities Maintenance Helper
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, this position is responsible for performing Facilities Maintenance duties and services.
Essential Functions
  1. Stripping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing of floors.
  2. Preventative maintenance of equipment and builiding.
  3. Proper labeling, dilution and use of chemicals
  4. Requisition necessary supplies and equipment required for cleaning and maintenance activities.
  5. Maintain janitor closets, supplies, and janitorial equipment.
  6. Clean, dust furniture, walls, machines and equipment, clean windows, glass partitions and mirrors.
  7. Empty recycling containers.
  8. Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables and chairs to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
  9. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned, including support of the janitorial staff.

  • Ability to communication both verbally and written.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Prioritize and execute multiple tasks.
  • Work effectively within a team environment.
  • Work independently as required to support department goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and solutions.
  • Physical ability to stand extended periods, bend, stoop, climb ladders and stairs.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Strong organizational skills.

The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to do the following:
  • The work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds.
  • Moving items over fifty (50) pounds utilizes a team lift.
  • Must understand and follow clear oral and/or written procedures without deviation.
  • Must adhere to a provided work schedule to meet a set of qualitative production standards
  • Has significant interact with co-workers.
  • Implements others’ decisions/procedures with little judgement required.
  • Must relay simple information orally.
Position Type/Expected hours of work
This is a full-time non-exempt position. Forty or more (40+) hours within a workweek.
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Computer literate with emphasis in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word, a plus
